The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for accurate costing of imported goods, exported products, and workshop services. The role manages inventory costs, Work-in-Progress (WIP) and Goods-in-Transit (GIT), analyzes cost variances, and supports physical inventory counts. This position ensures accurate financial records and provides reliable cost information for business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile inventory, WIP and GIT accounts.
- Prepare and verify product, import/export, and workshop job costing.
- Monitor workshop costs and ensure accurate allocation of materials and labor.
- Support annual budgeting and prepare monthly budget and variance reports.
- Prepare performance reports for key business units and profit centers.
- Record cost adjustments and maintain accurate subsidiary ledger reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits with required documentation and explanations.
- Verify store transactions and ensure proper documentation and authorization.
- Lead and participate in physical inventory counts and investigate variances.
- Maintain organized cost accounting records and supervise/train junior staff.
- Collaborate with Finance, Stores, Workshop, and Accounting teams to ensure accurate cost reporting.

Experience:

- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cost accounting or financial analysis.
- Experience in a trading, manufacturing, or automotive workshop environment is highly preferred.
Skills:

- Technical: Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and Cost Accounting Standards.
- Software: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Analytical: High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Integrity: High ethical standards regarding the handling of inventory and financial data.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with Store/Workshop operations staff.
