Job Description
Role Purpose

The Capacity Development Manager will support the development and manage the implementation of the Civil Society Support Programme’s Capacity Development Strategy with a particular focus on capacity development services to civil society and government counterparts. The post holder will work closely with the programme’s Capacity Development Lead, Hub Offices, and workstreams and will support the development of a learning culture across CSSP2 and its partners. The role holder is expected to bring capacity building best practice from all relevant sectors including corporate, government, and civil society and ensure it is embedded in the programme.

Job Requirement

Role specific knowledge and experience:

The main essential knowledge and experience points that we are looking for you to evidence are:

  • Fluency in English (C1 or IELTS 6.5 or equivalent), Amharic and / or a language spoken and used in the one of the regional states of the country
  • University degree in social science, public administration, education, law, or another relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Academic qualification in adult learning, education, capacity development design, and delivery
  • Experience managing capacity building interventions for a wide range of stakeholders including civil society actors and government offices within a programme or project context
  • Experience of working for client funded civil society capacity development programmes
  • Ability to design and conduct a capacity needs assessment, development, and delivery of need-based capacity development intervention
  • CSO and Government Capacity Building – Significant experience of building the capacity of CSO grant recipients and Government offices.
  • Adult training and coaching skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Amharic and English

Desirable Experience:

  • Project/programme management qualification
  • Five years of experience in capacity development support design and delivery for Civil society actors
  • Ability to design and conduct a capacity needs assessment, development, and delivery of need-based capacity development intervention
  • Experience on identifying and sharing lessons learned areas of innovation, and best practice of CSOs for experience sharing through capacity development platforms
  • Experience of Capacity Development support to improve engagement between different civil society actors and with government

Remuneration – ETB 41,395 per month

Location – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Requirements – All applicants should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in country of application.  The British Council will not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permit.
