Horti-LIFE project is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) and implemented by SNV-Ethiopia in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture. The aim is to increase the productivity and food safety in the horticultural sector by supporting smallholder farmers, rural SMEs and supporting institutions. This second phase of the project duration is starting from 2019 up to 2023.
SNV Ethiopia is looking for dynamic, experienced, talented, energetic, flexible, open and ready to learn candidates for the position of Senior Horticultural Nutrition Advisor for Horti-LIFE II Project.
The successful appointee will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own skills, knowledge and experience. This position is fully responsible for leading the work on nutrition across all project components; and to identify the determinants of dietary diversity and the nutrition gap in rural households: Availability of foods (either homegrown or from markets)affordability of food (on local markets),feeding habits based on taste, social status of food and/or traditions/beliefs, etc.
Applicants should possess the following Educational, Experience qualifications and requirements
An MSc degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (nutrition/ agriculture/ post-harvest handling & processing/household science, etc.) or a BSc with very solid work experience in the field and/or private sector
– A minimum of 10 years of work experience on (horticultural) nutrition
– A strong focus on practical nutrition interventions (work on policy issues is less relevant)
– Broad experience in nutrition: covering work with households, informal groups (like FFSs) and institutions (extension service, A-TVETs or universities)
