- Background
CVM is implementing water system rehabilitation projects aimed at restoring and improving sustainable water supply in south region. The project focuses on rehabilitating pumps, generators, shallow wells, and hand-dug wells to ensure reliable access to safe water.
- Purpose of the Position
The Electromechanical Technician will lead the on-ground implementation of rehabilitation activities, ensuring the proper installation, inspection, and maintenance of water supply electromechanical components. The technician will work directly with field teams to guarantee effective operation, functionality, and durability of water systems.
- Key Responsibilities
3.1 Installation & Rehabilitation
- Install, commission, and rehabilitate submersible and surface pumps, generators, control panels, and electrical accessories for shallow wells and hand-dug wells.
- Oversee the mechanical and electrical setup of newly rehabilitated or upgraded water points.
- Ensure all installations comply with technical specifications, safety standards, and project guidelines.
3.2 Inspection & Diagnostics
- Conduct technical inspections of existing pumps, motors, generators, and well structures.
- Diagnose electromechanical faults
- Prepare inspection reports and recommend corrective actions.
3.3 Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, generators, and associated electrical systems.
- Replace damaged parts
- Ensure hand-dug wells and shallow wells are structurally sound and functioning properly.
3.4 Field Team Coordination
- Work alongside plumbers, masons, and general laborers during rehabilitation activities.
- Provide on-the-job technical guidance to field staff and community-based operators.
- Ensure field teams follow safety protocols
3.5 Documentation & Reporting
- Record all technical interventions: installation parameters, maintenance logs, spare parts used.
- Report recurring technical issues and propose system improvements.
Submit weekly work plans and progress reports to the supervisor.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Education: BSc degree, technical diploma, vocational training, or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Pump Systems Technology, or a related field .
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in:

- Installation and repair of water pumps, submersible, centrifugal, hand pumps.
- Electrical systems (control panels, circuit breakers, wiring, generators
- Rehabilitation of shallow wells and/or hand-dug wells.
- Key Competencies
- Strong practical troubleshooting skills in electromechanical systems.
- Experience working in rural or remote field settings.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Familiarity with safety standards for electrical and mechanical work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness for fieldwork (lifting equipment, working in confined well spaces if safe to do so).
