Pharmacy Storekeeper

Under direct supervision of Pharmacy Director, the pharmacy store keeper performs a wide range of procedures in all general areas of the Pharmacy including; receiving and issuing of pharmaceuticals, dissemination of new arrival medication, receiving maintain proper storage, Deliver medication to departments, information collection summarizing and reporting; and does related work as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure scientific method  of storage, classification and organization of drugs, medical supplies and laboratory reagents.

2. Records and reports received and Issued drugs, medical supplies and related items accordingly.

3. Maintain proper storage and security condition for pharmaceuticals and other related supplies.

4. Ensure that all areas where pharmaceuticals stored are of acceptable standards (palletized or shelved, ventilated, easy for movement, rodent free, temperature and moisture controlled and others).

5. Keeps the entire inventory under safe custody and store as per prescribed guideline of temperature humidity, cold chain, and management of pharmaceuticals in the store.

6. Ensure efficient management of Pharmaceutical stock by preventing stockout and reducing expiry.

7. Provide accurate data (received and issued), inventories and consumption follow up to facilitate efficient drug and medical supplies order.

8. Take necessary actions/Prepare purchase requests to replenish store were in time to avoid any stock outs by timely placing of demand by taking into account the lead time.

9. Conducts periodic inventories to determine the need for stocking replenishment and to review the utilization rate and shelf life of stock items.

10. Maintains control over inactive, unusual and/or excessive use of pharmaceutical stocks.

11. Maintains automated records and reports of pharmaceuticals ordered, received and in stock order to track utilization rates and cost of pharmaceuticals.

12. Display or disseminate new arrivals or alternative medicines to each service delivery units.

13. Maintain and update stock status, stock card and bin card.

14. Report near expiry, overstocked, slow moving  Pharmaceuticals to Pharmacy Director.

15. Inspects all patient care areas in the hospital, where medicines intended for administration to patients are stored, dispensed or administered at least once every month.

16. Register the daily stock balance properly.

17. Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices and inform suppliers of stock needs and shortages.


18. Maintains a safe and clean Pharmaceutical warehouse by complying with procedures, standards, rules and regulations.


Job Requirements

1. Possessing of diploma in pharmacy and at least three years of experience as a Pharmacy store keeper.

2. Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft office.

3. Strong ability to engage and communicate with teams.

4. Demonstrate ability to solve problems, achieve result and foster strong customer service Orientation.

5. Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
