We hire for attitude and skill as much as passion for our industry. Habesha is looking for a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager (Duty Station: Debere Berhan) .

The Role Summary:

We are looking for a SHE Manager who will be responsible for safety, health and environmental functions in the brewery site, promoting awareness to build a safe working culture collaboration with Brewery’s team and take a leading role to maintain health and environmental legislation; Provision of professional and technical support and advice on safety matters to various stakeholders (staff , visitors & contractors…etc )

Result area

1.      SHE Management

  • Promote & implement SHE related systems and initiatives to minimize the risk of harm to people, property, and the environment
  • Prepare SHE’s audits schedules and drive for the implementation
  • Develop & implementation SHE related policies & procedures
  • Set and achieve budget for health, safety and environmental management systems
  • Manage the availability of all Safety devices required for the brewery

2.      Risk Assessment & Implementation

  • Formulate work permit templates for risky jobs (Hot work, confined space and work at height) and follow its implementation
  • Conduct risk assessments, SHE supervisions and inspections for all activities of the brewery
  • Implement control actions arising from risk assessments and findings from daily supervision
  • Create Safety, Health and Environmental audit systems for each working unit

3.      Accident and Emergency Management

  • Enforce availability of drugs and equipment to manage emergencies
  • Make sure that the nurse on duty is clearly identified for working units in each shift
  • Lead and coordinate to manage any accidents without delay
  • Monitor the proper functionality of the brewery firefighting system (fire alarm, fire hydrant line, portable fire extinguishers and fire truck)

4.      SHE Communication & people management

  • Investigate accidents and communicate to the brewery society to prevent reoccurrence
  • Drive to internalize SHE related communication by employees, visitors and customers
  • Create Safety culture in the brewery through embedding of various systems and strategies
  • Provide SHE related induction for new employees, customers and visitors before access to work area
  • Direct and coach nurses to be alert for managing accidents/emergencies proactively

5.      Legal compliance

  • Monitor the company clinic is working as per National Standards
  •  Renew license of company clinic on timely basis
  • Provide SHE guidance, advice and support to Operations team proactively
  • Maintain SHE related Records& documentation
  • Promote guidance, advice and understanding over compliance with PPE, health and hygiene standards and objectives across all units.

Job Requirements

The Person:

This role is positioned at a Managerial level and requires a self-starter and aptitude to work consistently, completely, and independently per a senior management direction.

B.Sc. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related fields with minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing setting company.
