Brief about MACCFA                                                                       

MACCFA is a highly recognized, full-fledged freight forwarding company located in Ethiopia with a global network via its joint venture partner CEVA Logistics. We have extensive experience for over Twenty-Six years in customs clearing, freight forwarding, and ground transportation via overland trucking and railway. We are looking for competent and energetic professional who can be part of our dynamic and professional team for our Business Unit.

Job Purpose

Primary purpose of the role:

Primary purpose of this position:- Responsible for developing relevant policies, guidelines, & procedures that would be applicable to employees, company’s road freight transportation & other freight management businesses, logistical facilities, & external stakeholders in a manner they fulfill the safety & security requirements including occupational health & environment aspects of company’s key stakeholders including employees, customers, overseas partner, federal regulatory bodies, & operators of sea ports where Ethiopia uses for its import & export trade activities etc. Responsible for promoting the safe and secured operations of owned fleets, outsourced fleets & trains in the entire stage of their movement during before & at the time of loading, the course of the trip and unloading for the purpose of cargo pick-up/ delivery from/ to customer. The post holder will also be responsible to direct, plan, organize, coordinate & control the occupational safety, health, & environment (SHE) activities of the company in accordance with company’s relevant policies, guidelines & procedures that would be applicable to both internal & external stakeholders

Key Accountabilities

Specific Responsibilities of the job position:

  • Plan, implement, safety & security policies and procedures in compliance with the requirements of customers, relevant federal public regulatory bodies, & actors involved in the provision of cross-border transportations
  • Monitor & evaluate the compliance level of safety & security policies, guidelines & procedures & provide the necessary support 
  • Undertake internal & external audits on suppliers & others stakeholders.
  • Compiles and submits incident/ accident investigation & prevention reports required by regulatory agencies & customers.
  • Formulate training policies, programs, and schedule based on identified training needs, regular refresher courses, company operation processes, customer service processes, or changes in operation, procedures or services.
  • Plan and implement programs to train managers, drivers, and associates in workplace safety practices, fire prevention, hazardous materials, material handling equipment (MHE), and the correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials found in the warehouse, during their carriage & delivery.
  • Provide support in terms of planning & advising to concerned units while handling their insurance & claim affairs in their respective units in line with applicable insurance coverage policies and nature of incident/ accidents, if any in collaboration with insurance agents,
  • Track & ensure for the timely renewal of relevant insurance policy coverages related with business units, facilities, light vehicles & motor vehicles (non-employee related).
  • Leads the investigation & prevention of incidents & accidents and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for the company use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Follow up insurance cases & claim requests related with non-HR related insurance coverage policies 
  • Prepare her/his own individual plan based on the team's plan by discussing with her/his immediate supervisor,
  • Regularly report her/his performance to her/his immediate supervisor,
  • Perform other similar/related activities whenever instructed by your immediate supervisor,

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • BSC Degree in Environmental & Occupational Health, Pubic Health, Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety & Health, Transport Safety Management, Environment and Health science, or in any other relevant field from a recognized university


  • The applicant should have a minimum of five years of experience in similar or related jobs in transportation & logistics, energy, manufacturing, construction or other relevant sectors. Of which, 2 (two) years should be gained at supervisory/ managerial level
