Family Health International (FHI360) has been implementing the Household Economic Strengthening Activity (HESA) since July 2014 with financial support from USAID. One of the key deliverables of this Activity is the development of the National Economic Strengthening Guideline (NESGLs) for Vulnerable Populations. To this end, in collaboration with FHAPCO, MoLSA, MoWCY, FUJCFSA, the technical working group (TWG) and USAID’s guidance and leadership, FHI360 had successfully developed, launched and cascaded the NESGLs and Household Economic Vulnerability Assessment (HHEVA) tool for vulnerable populations.
In 2019, FHI360 is closely working with FHAPCO, MoLSA, MoWCY, FUJCFSA and IPs in standardizing and operationalizing the economic strengthening approach, enhance GOE’s capacity, ownership and leadership in Economic Strengthening (ES).
To achieve this objective, FHI 360 is looking for an editor consultant for Amharic translated NESGL with a total of 94 pages who fulfills below listed scope of work and requirement and responsible to deliver a guideline edited and ready for printing.
Scope of work for Editor
ü Restructuring texts where necessary so that the NESGLs is clear and concise (clear communications are easily understood and logical and providing all significant technical and relevant information. Concise communications are to the point and avoid unnecessary elaboration, superfluous detail, redundancy, and wordiness);
ü Checking facts and ensure error-free texts, and raising any related queries;
ü Correcting Amharic wording and grammatical errors;
ü Liaising regularly with TWG/FHI 360 by phone and email and resolving queries directly with TWG/FHI 360, e.g. style and text inconsistencies;
ü Reviewing and correcting formats and ensure consistency and uniformity across the document;
ü Rising, discussing and resolving any potentially libelous or particularly controversial sections;
ü Ensuring that all references and sources are accurately and consistently cited;
ü Any other editing tasks as required to create a high-quality document;
ü The editor/proof reader is obliged to work within the required deadlines and be available to FHI 360 for comments and corrections;
ü Submit refined final version with the agreed upon timeline with soft copy and hard copy;
ü Perform other related duties as required, checking manuscripts for correct design features, such as hierarchy of headings.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field related to editing, writing or communications, as editor/proof reader;
- Masters’ Degree or above with 5 years of work experience in a relevant field, such as Amharic language and literature, writing or communications, as editor/proof reader;
- Proven knowledge of either livelihood development and economic strengthening interventions;
- Submiting sample work completed from previous similar work,
- Solid knowledge of MS Word is required.
