VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: Addis-2021-007

WORK HOURS:       Full-time (40 hours/week)

NOTE:   For ordinarily resident employees, salary will be paid in local currency using the established exchange rate

SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): Position Grade: FSN-08, – 12,133.00 USD per year.

 Not Ordinarily Resident: FP-06

 *Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

Basic Function of Position:

Under the supervision of the Senior Commercial Officer, identifies local business partners for U.S. companies, drafts reports on specific sectors to promote U.S. trade objectives in Ethiopia for assigned industry sectors. S/he will maintain close contact with a wide range of working level and high-level private contacts and public sector officials in the assigned industry sectors, and counsels visiting U.S. business people and their corresponding local representatives. S/he will write various USDOC standard market reports and is responsible for on or more specialized trade assistance programs (Gold Key Service, International Partner Search etc).Assist as necessary in research and resolution of trade complaints within the assigned industries. Assists with maintaining website, reporting meetings and contacts in online database, and coordinating event logistics.


Job Requirements

Required Education:    Bachelor degree or equivalent degree in business administration, economics, marketing or public relations is required.

Required Experience:     Two-year experience in marketing, business administration, trade promotion, economic research or information management is required.

Language Requirement :

  •  Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking English is required. (This may be tested)
  • Level IV (Fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking Amharic is required.

Skills and abilities : Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of mid to high level contacts in the host government and private sector; to plan, organize and execute complex commercial research projects to prepare precise and accurate reports embodying in-depth analytical evaluations and to render advice with detachment and objectivity, employing sound professional judgement. Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Computer skills will be tested. Basic numerical skill is required. (This may be tested)

       (You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).
