Job Description

Context of the Role

This role aims to successfully develop the overall design elements of a project, overseeing the creation of the creative department and ensuring that the final product matches the original design concept. The role is expected to be a creative thinker and a leader. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering content, products and branded experiences to our target audience, leading and overseeing projects, and designing strategies. Your central goal is to ensure Yegna’s products continue to produce quality and creative content aligned with the brand values and intended social and behavioral outcomes. In doing so, you will play an integral part in increasing the brand’s reach, loyalty, and impact.

Your duties will include leading and overseeing the YEGNA TV drama, productions of other campaigns, managing the Yegna cast members, and managing any event-related tasks when needed.

The Create team works closely with the impact and SBC teams during content creation.

What You’ll Do

Team Management

  • Oversee and lead Create team activities
  • Follow up on the team-assigned activities and tasks
  • Distribute tasks among team members
  • Planning quarterly activities of the team

Project Management

  • Develop and lead country projects from scratch. Oversee the timeline, budget, and workflow of projects.
  • Liaise with the Operations and Finance teams on contract management and invoice processing using Salesforce.
  • Input in preparing budgets according to the project’s implementation plan
  • Track and monitor individual donor budgets and overall TEGA country budget
  • Monitor project progress, set deadlines, solve issues that arise, manage money, ensure funder requirements evaluate the performance of the team members.

Talent Management

  • Being the core point of contact for old and new talent, ensuring they are kept safe, healthy, and happy at all times
  • Manage and oversee talents day to day schedule, making sure they are on time and present for all production, PR, training, and performance needs
  • Maintaining clear lines of communication with talent, keeping them informed about activities, where they need to be, and product plans.
  • Organizing logistics for talents’ public appearances and performances, including clothing, hair/makeup, equipment rental, venue, crew or vehicle hire
  • Organizing rehearsals and ensuring talent are prepared for shoot dates, recording sessions, and public performances.
  • Chaperoning talent for all engagements, including performances, recording, filming, media appearances, etc.
  • Overseeing financial activities for talent, including submitting any invoices, per diem payments,
  • Ensuring the talent complies with the agreed code of conduct and does not fail in their duties to act as Yegna ambassadors at all times.
  • Overseeing the provision of short-term accommodation for talent relocating to Addis Ababa and providing support for transition into their self-funded long-term accommodation, as well as any other orientation support required
  • Collection of behind-the-scenes/live video and photo content for social media.
  • Attending and contributing to GE production meetings
  • Ensure safeguarding measures are undertaken when dealing with anyone under 25 by working closely with the safeguarding officer.
  • Other tasks, as requested

Event Management

  • Manage every event from the start of the conception of an event to its implementation. This includes creating timelines, scheduling meetings, communicating with all that needs to be included, and overseeing the actual event itself is the best representation of our brand and what we try to achieve.
  • Being the point of contact on-site to negotiate with sound crew, show producers, and venue staff at public appearances and performances to negotiate load in, sound check, presentations, and load out.
  • Manage and oversee any events organized by Girl Effect via third-party vendors or in-house.
  • Lead the procurement process for event-related work, including until the final payment of the vendors.
  • Manage the process of getting collateral for the brand that will be used for events and any brand-related activations.
  • Ensure that documentation is a part of all and every Yegna event, including third-party events that we might be invited to.
  • Ensure safeguarding measures are undertaken and fill out risk assessment forms for all events.
  • Ensure careful security and safety measures are implemented for any event which involves underage participants.

Content Distribution Focused tasks

  • Assess media spot prices
  • Create a communication bridge with Girl Effect and the Media houses
  • Create media placement plans for projects
  • Make sure content is ready on time to be distributed to the media houses
  • Work closely with the media/ media agents to put out content for the public
  • Make sure distributed content has been aired on time
  • Communicate with broadcast partners that air the TV drama.
  • Deliver TV drama episodes and other content on time to TV stations
  • Make sure Tv drama episodes and other content have been aired on time
Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree in Production, Project management, Marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • Six years experience in content production, campaign design, digital and media marketing, or any other relevant creative work
  • Experience in leading a creative team
  • Strong interest and knowledge about content and trends across movies, TV series, short and long-form content
  • In-depth knowledge of various mainstream media and social media platforms.
  • Highly creative with excellent analytical abilities
  • Outstanding ability to interact meaningfully with people of diverse backgrounds, personalities, and expertise
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering outstanding results
What else you should know
  • Open and flexible to changing working situations and circumstances
  • Leadership skills as you will be leading a team
  • High communication skills as you will work closely with different vendors, cast members, media, and funders as needed.
  • Fluent in Amharic and English – must be able to read and type in Amharic and English.
  • A basic understanding of story writing and music production /consultancy is a plus.
  • Basic safeguarding and digital safeguarding knowledge is a plus
  • Compliance with the Girl Effect safeguarding policy is required (Girl Effect will provide training to this end)

This role is subject to a standard background disclosure.

The maternity cover contract will be valid for 8 months.
