Brief about MACCFA

MACCFA is a highly recognized, full-fledged freight forwarding company located in Ethiopia with a global network via its joint venture partner CEVA Logistics. We have extensive experience for over twenty-six years in customs clearing, freight forwarding, and ground transportation via overland trucking and railway. We are looking for competent and energetic professional who can be part of our dynamic and professional team for our Human Resource Unit.

  Job Purpose

Primary purpose of the role :

The job holder is responsible for sourcing candidates through various channels, planning interview and selection procedures and hosting or participating in career events. To be successful in this role, the incumbent should be able to develop long-term recruiting strategies and nurture trusting relationships with potential hires. Ultimately required to creating strong talent pipelines for our company’s current and future hiring needs.

Develops & implements Learning & Development strategy elements across the organization. In this respective role the job holder should be accountable for creation and delivery of learning solutions & talent development interventions to support business objectives and drive organizational effectiveness. Coordinate and continuous follow of Performance Management initiatives, ensure all units are adhering with the agreed annual business and development goals. Execute Key position succession plan and retention strategies.

Key Accountabilities


Main areas of focus and accountability of the role – detail in order of importance the main areas of accountability of the role:

Talent Acquisition:

  • Coordinate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, determine selection criteria based on the nature of the job.
  • Source potential candidates through online channels (e.g., social platforms and professional networks)
  • Plan interview and selection procedures, including screening calls, assessments and in-person interviews
  • Assess candidate information, including resumes and contact details, using applicant’s tracking system
  • Design job descriptions and interview questions that reflect each position’s requirements together with hiring manager.
  • Lead employer branding initiatives
  • Organize and attend job fairs and recruitment events
  • Forecast quarterly and annual hiring needs together with business unit heads
  • Foster long-term relationships with past applicants and potential candidates
  • Employee onboarding process support by providing orientation & induction solutions.

Learning Development:

  • Design and delivery a range of learning experiences, either through internal resources or external learning providers that develops the leadership, behavioural and technical skills of the business.
  • Planning & execution of management/ leadership & soft skills programs as well as competencies assessments
  • Deployment of talent development solutions in line with Talent Management strategy in line with the annual and strategic goal of the company.
  • Support delivery of training, logistics, facilitators, third-party relationships
  • Training effectiveness evaluation and programs adjustment
  • Digital content development, through story boarding, e-learning and other training methods to create flexible and innovative learning programs.
  • Remain current on learning and development related tools, techniques, strategies and practices

  Performance management lead:

  •  Talent management: assessment of key competencies, succession planning, individual and organizational development plans.
  • Digital acceleration: contribute to innovate and keep up-to-date HRIS platform re talent, Performance, Learning, Onboarding
  • Maintain strong stakeholder engagement through the facilitation of meetings and assist with the identification of learning experiences to drive a culture of continuous performance development programs.
  • Closely work with other unit heads in identifying key team succession planning and execution of staff retentions tools.
  • Take the lead for staff engagement and communication of key HR initiatives
  • Perform other related task assigned as assigned by immediate supervisor.

  • The knowledge, experience and skills required to undertake the level at a fully competent level

Person Profile

  • Specifies the essential (minimal) and desirable qualifications, experience, knowledge and behaviours that are required for successful performance of the role.

Education & Qualifications

  • B.A. Degree in HR / Business Administration or related field of study 


  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
  • Knowledge of local language 


  • 4 years’ experience as Talent Management expert, dealing in a specialist role with demonstrated competence in Talent Acquisition, L&D, Performance Management, KPI setting, review and Key team succession plan.
  • Demonstrated talent management skills.
  • A high degree of computer literacy; knowledge of special HR software is desirable.
  • Ability to generate and analyse various HR metrics using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • Current knowledge of industry practices, trends and issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • A systematic and structure approach, with strong knowledge and experience in project management and learning management systems

Specialist Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer Application; Labour Law, HR regulations
  • Knowledge of basic human resource disciplines
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
  • Ability to handle confidential information as well as using discretion in solving sensitive and complex situations
  • Good interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Ethical and high-level of integrity
  • A positive "can-do" attitude, open-mind & sense of ownership
  • Work experience within a multi-cultural environment would be advantageous.
