The Embassy of Canada in Ethiopia would like to invite qualified and experienced candidates for the following position.
Summary of Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Driver Dispatcher and general supervision of the Deputy Management Consular Officer (DMCO), the driver/messenger provides transportation for the Canadian Embassy authorized passengers, performs delivery and collection of materials, provides messenger services, ensures the proper maintenance of assigned vehicle, and support services to the mission following established mission and departmental policies. The majority of the driving will take place in and around Addis Ababa, but occasional multi-day trips will also take place to other regions in Ethiopia. Note that willingness and ability to work frequent overtime and to work late at night is necessary for this position.
- Ethiopian General Secondary Education Certificate
- Fluency in English (spoken)
- Fluency in Amharic (written and spoken)
“Fluency” is defined as meeting the reference level descriptions of level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) , which can be accessed at https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/table-1-cefr-3.3-common-reference-levels-global-scale .
- Minimum of 2 years of recent* experience working as a driver in a diplomatic mission, or in an international or non-governmental organization
- Experience maintaining detailed driver logs
- Experience in picking-up and dropping-off visitors at an airport
- Experience in picking-up and dropping-off children
