The Opportunity
The Global SRHR Alliance New pilot programme is being implemented across eight countries in three regions: East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda), West Africa ( Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger), MENA ( Jordan, Lebanon).
The SRH Coordinator will lead the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the SRH Alliance Project at regional, zonal, and woreda levels. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions through effective collaboration with alliance partners, government stakeholders, and local implementing organizations.
The position is responsible for coordinating project activities, managing partnerships, supporting budget and grant compliance, and ensuring timely reporting in line with donor and organizational requirements. The Coordinator will promote access to quality SRH services and information, strengthen community engagement, support youth and women-led networks, facilitate capacity-building initiatives, and contribute to research, advocacy, monitoring, evaluation, learning, and documentation. The role also promotes gender equality, disability inclusion, and sustainable project outcomes in conflict-affected and hard-to-reach communities.
Key Accountabilities
A. Regional Project Coordination, Planning, Implementation, and Reporting
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of SRH Alliance project activities at regional and woreda levels.
- Support quality SRH service delivery, SRH education, evidence generation, advocacy, and CSO strengthening initiatives.
- Contribute to project planning processes, including DIPs, annual plans, and quarterly work plans.
- Coordinate project staff, implementing partners, and government stakeholders to ensure timely and quality implementation.
- Manage regional budgets, monitor expenditures, and support financial forecasting and compliance.
- Prepare and submit quality reports, project documentation, and donor-required information.
- Facilitate partnerships and agreements with regional government offices and stakeholders.
- Organize and deliver trainings, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives for partners and government actors.
- Lead project reviews, monitoring visits, and joint partner meetings.
- Represent the project in regional coordination forums, technical working groups, and alliance platforms.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and technical support to project staff.
B. Quality Implementation, Monitoring, and Documentation
- Support monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities in collaboration with MERL and MEAL teams.
- Ensure timely collection, analysis, and reporting of project data and performance information.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and implementation challenges.
- Maintain organized project records and documentation in compliance with audit and accountability requirements.
- Strengthen partnerships with research institutions, universities, and technical agencies to promote evidence-based programming and quality SRH services.
C. Program Integration and Cross-Cutting Themes
- Promote gender equality, youth participation, disability inclusion, and engagement of marginalized communities across project activities.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
- Align regional project interventions with organizational strategies, government policies, and project objectives.
- Support community engagement approaches, including peer education, champions of change, survivor-centered programming, and intergenerational dialogue.
Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted
Requirements & Qualifications
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications/ Experience/Skills Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Reproductive Health, Sociology, Development studies, or related social science field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in regional project management, especially alliance or consortium programs, with strong sectoral expertise on SRH with good understanding of regional and local contexts.
- Good team player with agility and problem-solving capability
- Experience of working on complex projects that involves diversified local implementing partners.
- Knowhow of SRH and GBV strategies/policy frameworks, teenage pregnancy roadmap, child marriage, FGM.
- Experience in planning, budget management, delivering trainings
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Languages required:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing is essential
- In addition, Knowledge of Regional Languages is essential or Local language is mandatory
